Thanks for the post Kwhite. I just bought some and haven't tried it yet. I was going to use a basin to soak it in but will try the washer. Thanks everyone for your thoughts. I hear great things abour retayne.

Yeah I had heard great things too so I decided to try it. I will try one more time with this fabric and see if I get any diffrent results. I will let you know.

I've used it before and never had a problem - I would never think of soap scum. I would try it again and if it happens again try calling the company - heard that they have good customer support.

I tried again and it was fine. Must have been something left from the DH's funky work colthes. HAHA

Look inside the agitator area. It could be you have a build up of soap/fabric softeners/hard water deposits etc. that started coming loose with the Retayne. It is amazing what will gunk up inside the agitator area. I pulled mine apart and spent a complete day cleaning the goo out with hot water. My washing machine works much better these days and I am using a little less detergent and softeners too.
