Do any of you participate in the QOV program?

Yes. Why do you ask? It's worthwhile. I was honored to present a QOV; the Veteran was thrilled!

Yes, Quilts of Valor is my mission in life! I make about 7-8 per year.

The reason I ask is because I recently got involved and think it is such a good cause. I was hoping to spark some interest

Yes, my sister-in-law and I each of one in the works right now. We are getting together when we sew on them so we can spend time with each other.

I have made over a dozen but was never there to present them to a soldier. I have switch over to making quilts for Foster Kids here in California.

I am making one for my son, who served in Iraq. I had planned it for his birthday , but I am taking more time on it than I expected.
I think he'll appreciate he love and meaning behind the quit.
Our military deserve our prayers and anything else we are able to do for them. They don't ask for war , but do what they are called to do.

We just started a group here and meet twice a month at a local quilt shop classroom. We sold some stuff on Ebay and now have 102 yards of patriotic fabric for backs and bindings and we all are having a ball.

The lady who started the group is the long arm quilter and also received a QOV.

I helped start our local QOV group about 4 or 5 years ago. Since I'm one of the few LA quilters in the group, I usually participate by quilting them, but I also do some piecing or binding as time allows. One of the ladies cuts kits and people will pick them up at my shop, work on them at home and return them when they are done. Then someone will quilt them, someone else bind, etc.

Here is one that I did start to finish: our guild was doing a mystery quilt, and I chose patriotic colors so I could donate it as a QOV.

Finishing hand sewing the binding on my first QOV. I decided to give it to a sweet WWII vet who served in the Navy in the Pacific. My FIL was a Navy WWII so I made it in his honor. I can't wait to give it to Mr. Miller. Trying to decide if I should get some friends who are retired military to do color guard for funerals to be present. Already planning my second!
