That looks really beautiful. I wanted to try something new, because I've only attempted straight lines and am a little tired of that look. I'm not an advanced handquilter yet though. Hmmm, choices. My poor daughter just wants to know what is the fastest!

The quilt on our bed is hand stitched in a Baptist's Fan design by my husbands mother many many years ago. It was pieced with fabric made from clothes that no longer fit the little ones. I just love it. Granted, it is not a show-stopper, but it is near and dear to my heart.

For years I have admired the Baptist Fan quilting and wanted to do it on a quilt.

I finally did it...on a queen-sized quilt...

And all I can say is NEVER AGAIN!
Not only was it difficult to cross over corners where 3+ seams meet, but it is BORING to do on a large quilt. BORING BORING BORING!

I love the look...but I don't think I'll ever do it again except for a small quilt.

That's my 2 cents worth anyway! LOL

Here is a picture of the quilt I did it on...
WOW that is absolutely gorgeous!!!

For me being a die hard Southern Baptist I would love to quilt one like this but I can see why you would say on a big quilt it would be boring.

To me it would be frustrating as I would try doing it on my treadle and I would be punch drunk by the time I was not eve half way into it!!

But never the less you did a wonderful job and you should be very proud of yourself!!!

You might check quiltville.com. Baptist fans are Bonnie Hunter's "go to" for handquilting. She's famous for her scrap quilts. The website ahs many free patterns, tons of info, as well as a link to her blog.

Thanks, Billy!

This one in the photo was handquilted...machine quilting Baptist Fans would definitely go faster! :)

Now about Baptist Fans I can say..."I came, I saw, I conquered..."
