Question about bobbin thread
What do you use for bobbin thread. I always thought you had to use the same thread in the bobbin as the top thread, but now I am not so sure. I accidently sewed several quilt blocks with machine embroidery thread in the bobbin and the quilt police did not show up, nor did the blocks fall apart!
Just curious what everyone uses.

Sometimes I use the same in the bobbin as on top. Sometimes I use a different color in the bobbin as on the top - - especially when I quilt... because the backing is often a different color than the pieced top.

I almost always use Aurifil in a tan or grey. It doesn't make much lint and a spool lasts forever. I use whatever color blends best when I'm putting on a binding. I don't worry too much about what weight it is for binding and it's never been a problem.

I usually go with whatever blends with the backing, but I can see the value in using matching top and bottom thread.
However, people sometimes do use machine embroidery thread all the time for quilting (i.e. Leah Day)...it is what they prefer.
