I have this fabric that has me stumped...it is an older one...VIP Cranston and it measures 72" wide = Have you ever heard of that width of quilting fabric?

Salvages are together - fold is on the right and I measures across and get 36". So that makes it 72" wide - right?

Has anyone else come across this width? It is new for me.

    72" wide fabric

The only fabrics I have found that wide are home dec. fabrics.

Yes, it's woven that way for tablecloths, though 60" is more common. I have a similar one on a black background and a Fall one.

This isn't home decor fabric - too light weight.

I found it at an estate sale. I am selling it here on the board and someone asked about the repeat, so I pulled it out to measure it...to my surprise I had measured it wrong and listed it as 2 yards of 36" wide fabric! I kept looking and wondering if I had my head on backwards! It is funny now.

I think tablecloth or possibly curtains since it's not as heavy as home dec. fabric. I have seen some home dec stuff at Joann's & Hancock's that was thin enough to use, though so it's hard to say. If you like it is all that matters. When I was a teenager, my great grandmother gave me a quilt made out of everything and I mean everything! It was itchy, smelled funny and weighed a ton. I washed it and it disintegrated!

Sounds like a backing fabric for a quilt.
