I don't do SITD, only sew about 1/4" from a seam. I just did straight line stitching on a 3-1/2" blocks. I sew corner to corner across the blocks. Having the whole quilt sandwich taunt will keep the puckers away when crossing quilting lines. I usually do FMQ and not a problem.

SITD is no simple task, so I do it with as few starts and stops and turns as possible!
