Question about Tying a Quilt

Thanks so much everyone for your helpful responses! Yes, the quilt can most definitely be saved. I took the floss in/out of the quilt twice before tying. Only the knots came loose/undone, the thread did not come out of the quilt -- whew! From your responses, I think the problem is that I did not do a square or surgeon's knot, only the simple "tie your shoe" knot, and I probably cut the floss too short. So, I've decided that since I have to touch them all to re-tie/tighten anyway, I'm going to take these knots out and replace them. Thanks, again, for your quick and helpful replies! This board is the best! P.S. The jury is still out on whether I tie another quilt or not.

I haven't tied a quilt for some time, but I wondered throught the yarn section of a shop the other day and they some sign up by some of their yarn~I think it was worsted weight and I didn't really pay attention to the brand, but anyway the sign said that this particular yarn the manufacturer had quit putting sizing in. So it is a soft yarn but ravels quite easily and they did not recommend tieing a quilt with it. Just something to beaware of. I know most of you don't use worsted weight for tieing quilts but thought I would throw this tidbit in.

I don't care for all those long threads hanging on there, so I cut them off at about one half inch. Never come loose.
At our 4-H Quilt Camp, we were told to use pearl cotton. They were all tightly tied with square knots, and most of them came loose quite quickly.
