I am working on a baby quilt and this is the first time I have used flannel for the backing. Should my binding be made of flannel or cotton....or does it matter???
    Thanks in advance!!!

I don't think it matters. Personally I like to match the binding to the front but there is no hard and fast rule.

    That's what I would say.

Are you going to handsew the binding to the back or machine sew? If handsewing, I wonder if one would be easier to handsew than the other?

I happened to have just completed two quilts with flannel backing and I used cotton for the binding. I considered using flannel but one thing I didn't want to deal with since I was short of time was potential stretching of the flannel.

I too don't think it matters.

I think cotton would be easier...but it really is up to you.

I make a lot of preemie quilts with cotton tops and flannel backing. I often will make a reversible binding so that there is cotton binding on the front and a matching flannel binding on the back.

Sometimes I use straight cotton binding or straight flannel binding. Either one works.
