Default question or twist n turn 4 patch

I have made a disappearing nine patch but my brain wont compute a twisted n turn 4 patch. do you make a normal 4 patch and then cut it down one side or 2 sides

thank you I knew it was simple I guess I was too tired to sort it out myself. but that's another story.
