Debrak,
That is a great idea. http://www.maryquilts.com/half-log-cabin/
I would make super size squares with borders and cut it 1/4s.
I did that with butterfly glass with thin strips of black between colors. Started with a 7 or 71/2' square.

1 cut vertical and 1 horizontal makes four squares.

There used to be a lot of posts regarding the BQ pattern, you said you had a large print. This is a great pattern for that and you could then showcase some beautiful quilting. Look for the patterns at http://www.mapleislandquilts.com
She actually has 3 different BQ patterns now.

The trouble with warm wishes is: it uses only two fabrics. That probably means shopping. You want to use what you have. I really like the idea for making half log cabin blocks by starting with a larger center, putting on strips all around and then cutting it in quarters. What a wonderful idea.

I have always liked the Take 5 quilt - by adding 12" blocks you can make it as large as you like. The pattern calls for 5 fabrics; 5/8 yard each for lap size. I have used as many as 15 different coordinating fabrics for a queen size. Can make it with or without borders.

I would find good fabrics to go with the Hawaiian focus fabric and do a Warm Wishes! Another is the rail fence in great monochromatic colors. These patterns go so quickly. Disappearing 9-patch is another on that works up fast.

DebraK, thank you for the beautiful idea for a quick quilt. I love the colors and can imagine it in other combinations. A good choice for this thread. I have printed out the pattern and put it in my "to do" binder.
