I've been getting a lot of emails lately for quilt cruises. They all sound exciting but honestly the featured quilter/instructor is someone I've never heard of. I searched a few of the names and could only find a Facebook or Instagram presence. If I spend a lot of money for a quilt cruise I want to know the featured quilter is someone whose has made a name for themselves in the quilting world. I would know their style and what they had to offer. Has anyone taken a quilt cruise with the feature quilter being unknown to you?

I have not - haven't quite figured out how I'd do a cruise that DH wouldn't enjoy.
I know that Gyleen Fitzgerald does quilting cruises. I took a class with her last summer (a one day class) and loved it. Would definitely go on one with her.
Do you not use IG or FB, so no way to research the faculty? So many teachers and businesses now use those formats rather than paying for a web page of their own; it can be hard if you don't use those sites. Maybe ask here, if there are specific instructors or cruises you are looking into, if anyone is familiar with them?
As I said, i did a class with Gyleen last summer. She's fun, engaging and a good teacher, explaining and demo'ing steps. Here's a pic of the block I made during the class, and the quilt. It's called Sunny Side Up.
Edited to add that the pic isn't the finished quilt! Evidently, I never took a picture of the project when done?? Or I've not filed it properly. But you will get the idea.

The lesser known instructors I have seen lately who do the cruises are ones that have only Facebook or Instagram presence known only by their followers I guess. Some are known by quilt shops who promote a cruise. I may be game to try. I'd go alone. My husband has no interest in going on a cruise and would be miserable or make me miserable. Either way he'll stay home.
