Default Quilt..flannel top and minkee back..do I prewash?

I was told if top and back were both flannel I didn't need to prewash. Wasn't sure about Minkee though.
    Thanks Terry

ANYTHING I think may shrink, I prewash, if you don't you may have wrinkled up mess if you wash after it's quilted.

Well that is sort of true... but flannels made from different manufactures, and even some from the same ( as they may get the greige goods from different sources.). and may shrink at different rates. Since shrinkage is typically much higher in flannels... I would pre-shrink.

Yes, Yes. Yes. Wash & pre shrink. We had bad experience with flannel. Sewed 2 together & they didn't shrink at same ratio. Had to take apart & re do.

The flannel will probably shrink but the minkee should not (it's polyester). If you don't preshrink the flannel side will shrink and it will be wonky.

Flannel I prewash and also minky (although you do not have to prewash minky).

I would pre-wash the flannel- not the minky- the minky is polyester and shouldn't shrink- but the flannel will.

Prewashing both will also cut down the amount of lint.
