When I made my first quilts, I used a Micron Pigma pen and wrote the information on fabric that I had ironed on to freezer paper. Now, I design my labels on the computer and print them on Printed Treasures fabric. I add clip art that goes with the name of the quilt along with the information. I enjoy making the labels almost as much as I enjoy making the quilt.

b4 my emb machine, i'd write it in pencil and use co-ord. emb floss. some of them were outrageous, and intricately pced.the emb floss ws a nice accent.

I designed a label that I love and had it made into fabric at Spoonflower.com I made sure to leave space to fill in the specifics for each quilt ( quilt name , recipient , finished date ) by hand with pigma pens. 1 yard of fabric yields me about 70 labels !

I do both hand and computer made. I prefer the printer method. I wash the muslin first, then iron it nice and flat. I cut pieces slightly smaller than a piece of copy paper, BUT use Freezer Paper. Then iron the fabric onto the freezer paper. I have saved labels that I can just fill in the blanks. and some very basic. After printing with a BOLD print, I soak them in vinegar overnight. I don't buy the ready made stuff. My labels have held up very well over time.
