    Default Quilt labels?

Do you have a resource for what you write on your quilt labels? If so, what do you use?

I'm making a quilt for a co-worker. I've worked with this person for 15 years. I'm having a hard time trying to come up with what to put on the label.

If it makes a difference the pattern I made is the Take 5.

    Thanks!

I have no advice, but I am curious about the responses as well. Every time I make a quilt as a gift, I make grand plans to add a quilt label. Then I finish the quilt and never get a label on it before I wrap it up. I need to make that my new year's resolution - to start adding quilt labels.

I usually print my own labels onto fabric (usually bordering the label graphic with the pattern/fabric from the quilt) so it looks like one of the blocks. I also include a photo of myself on the label with the quilt on my lap as if I'm quilting it. I figure 100 years from now no one will know what I look like, so I thought the pic was a nice touch.

I went to Google-typed in Quilt Label sayings, lots of sayings popped up. You might find something you like there.

Suggestion: "Made Especially for (put name of recipient) by (Your name)" and the year.

    Quick and not mushy.

Put the quilt label on the back before you quilt it. If you remember to do that...

I print my labels on white fabric and border it with the backing fabric. On the first line I put the name of the quilt - not the block name but a name I came up with, on the second line I put specially made for <name of recipient>, on the next line I put my name and on the last line I put the year. My labels are generally about 4 x 5 inches at the most.

i like indycat's suggestion. i don't put anything too personal on a label unless i'm very close with the recipient.

I embroider my labels with my embroidery machine. I include the name of the quilt, who I made it for, made by my name, and the date, sometimes I include other small things or the occasion like a birthday or if it's for Christmas. Always label your quilts...I didn't always do this but now I do!!!!

There are a lot of great ideas on Pinterest. I usually just put something simple like "happy snuggling" along with my name, location and date. I personally like to keep my labels more unobtrusive for the recipient.
