I like quiltmaker quilt magazine. I also subscribe to AQS magazine simply for the trends in quilting and seeing pictures of the winning quilts at Paducah and other AQS shows. Just my opinion.

I agree that Quick Quilts is perfect for beginners.

But as you advance a little, I love Quiltmaker and McCalls.

Like the other lady said, there is so much advertising anymore. There are a lot of free online patterns, such as t his site.

I also like that they rate the projects by beginner, intermediate or skilled level. They have quite a few in the beginner level, which I use, since I'm impatient!

If you decide on getting different magazines, check the publisher. After a while you will get duplicates if you get them from the same publisher. I was surprised.

I stopped all subscriptions recently and only pick up the odds and ends now when I see a magazine in a store that I can't live without. Even then, I rip out the patterns I want to keep and put them in a binder. If there is nothing I want to keep, I take them to work and pass them on.

I agree with all those that suggest the library. If your local doesn't have several maybe they can order from another district or town to get you a better variety. Save money - spend on fabric!

I like BHG also, just can't throw any of them away, I'm always going back to them for new ideas

I'm not renewing my Fons & Porter.....more advertising than patterns. I subscribe to most of the rest of them and really use them all.

Quilter's World is my favorite. I like the digital version. I have access to every one ever published, and they don't pile up on my bookshelves.
