Are you happy with the size? If it is the size you like, leave it alone. If you want it larger, I would choose a solid red for the border, but that's probably because it look so much like one I made a couple of years ago that way.

I like it as it is, but if i were to put a border on it, I would put two borders on it. One would be a narrow white strip to give my eyes a resting point, and the other would be a sort of quiet red (or green) scroll.

Sometimes you need two borders to make the quilt pop. The first could be narrow - up to 2.5 inches - and the second would be wider. It would be like the mat in a framed picture. i agree that this quilt doesn't need borders unless the quilt needs to be larger.

I'd use a dark color for a first border and then whatever you choose for a wider one, if you want borders on it. Use perl cotton or crochet thread to tie with if you want to finish it that way. Yarn doesn't stand up well over time and with laundering.
