Has anyone heard of the quilt as you go frame and quilt? I done several pieces several years ago. You do it on a rectangular frame. Now i can't figure out how to piece them together. I have made several quilts but this one has me really at (threads) end. Would really appr. any input. Susan

I just typed in "quilt as you go" for a Yahoo search and an entire page of sites popped up. I'm sure they can explain it all a lot better than I can. There are so many patterns now and so many ways you can finish. Never heard of using a frame for it. Another gadget you probably won't need.

Never heard of that. It must be for hand quilting. I am doing a QAYG on the embroidery machine. You attach the sections with sashing strips. As someone else suggested do a search; it is too hard to explain without pics.

I think the QAYG method for hand quilting is by Georgia Bonesteel, from her book "Lap Quilting". You stop quilting about 2" from the edges of the sections. Then you do your 1/4" to join the tops of the sections together. Butt the edges of the batting together and cut it if necessary so that it lays flat. Take one side of the backing and lay it flat, take the other side of the backing and turn a 1/4" under and slip stitch in place. Then you have to go back and hand quilt over this seamed area. Clear as mud, huh? Might be easier to get one of Georgia's books from the Library!

"Fun and Done" is what I found and have made my first quilt. You can get the template from Bayside Quilting. It is fast and easy.

I used Fun and Done and it was...fun and done. I am planning to make another quilt with the method, but not necessarily their pattern. There is no handsewing involved.

you were on the mark! Lap Quilting was what it was called , and GB method was how I learned. I did two that way, and was pleased with the results. Just can't handle the hand stitching anymore, at least not if I want to ever finish a large size. I do think this method gives a nicer look on the back side, no tapes covering seams.

OMG Thank you alll for alll the reply's. I LUV reading all of the posts ect. on here. Maybe one day i can post all of my quilts. Have pieced and quilted of my own prob. 20 and who knows quilted only,pieced quilts that have bought at auctions, yard sales, and that had been stored away of my Grandma's attic's. Luv quilts as you can tell. Am now piecing a Lady of the Lake with Flying Geese border and Prarie Points edge. I hand piece and quilt all of them. OMGosh, Again Thax Susan
