Red face Quilted soup bowls

Can anyone please tell me where I can get a pattern for these. I know all cotton 10 inch squaryes and sew an x across. Was wondering if you marked the x and if so what do you use chalk or marking tool. Have been asked to make some and having problems.
Thanks for any help,
Judy

Pilot Fixion /Ball pen Erasable #07 is PERFECT for marking fabric. To "erase" the marks, simply touch with a iron -marks instantly disappear. These are the only ones I use; alas, there is no "white," so I just use taylor's chalk on dark fabrics. I order mine from Amazon or Fat Quarter Shop; our local quilt museum also carries them.

I just finished making 4 of these bowl holders and I marked the x w/my washable Crayola markers.

ETA: there is a tutorial here on QB for these.

I don't make an X, I do a free motion meander sometimes, other times I'll practice some other design I want to do on a quilt. Once the bowl is finished it doesn't really matter what I've quilted on it.

Microwave Fabric Bowls
This is an excellent tutorial here on the board, posted by belmer. I made about 4 of these. Great instructions, easy to follow.

I tried to edit my post, but I cannot find the "edit" button on my phone, but, I want to say that i have never put them in the microwave. I only used them AFTER the bowl comes out of the microwave.

I have used this pattern since it was first posted and love it. If it ain't broke don't fix it. Denise

I have always put them in the microwave and never had a problem. You can also use them when you are eating ice cream and the bowl is cold it keeps your hands warm. Just make sure to use the correct batting, cotton fabric and cotton thread.
