Quilters vinyl
I have a pattern for a cell phone/wallet that I want to make and it calls for a piece of Quilters vinyl over one of the pockets. Since this needs to be sewn in place, can I use the vinyl off the rolls at Joann fabrics? I can't seem to find "quilters vinyl", Has anyone else used this?

I am not sure what they mean by 'quilters vinyl' but the stuff off the rolls should work just fine. You can pick the weight you want- Not sure the heaviest would be fun to sew thru..and the really lightweight might not hold up. I use a small piece of regular wrapping tissue paper under the vinyl to keep the feed dogs from sticking. It just peels off after you are finished. You can use a piece under the presser foot too if you like. I have made quite a few things including an applique roll and a bucket organizer using different weights. Be sure to post a picture!

There is a waterproof fabric which is used for making coats. Not sure what it is called. I purchased some an made waterproof bags for swimming costumes for children. The vinyle off a roll tends to be stiffer but as the picture shows it does sew .
Got it . Try Amy Butler fabric . She has at least 3 fabric laminates in very colourful and exciting designs.
Google Amy butler fabrics and you should be able to find a shop near you.

I buy mine at walmart by the yard. It is what I also use to cover my table at the holidays. There is two weights and I use the lighter one. Believe it or not it is very easy to cut or sew. I keep thinking I want to make some hanger dust covers for my closet.
