Quilting Magazines

My all time favorite magazine is Australian Patchwork & Quilting, I have made the most quilts from that magazine. Never had a subscription to it and the shop I used to buy it from closed. Next is Quilters World. I am also letting all my subscriptions expire.

Hi Sue,
I love the quilt pictured in your avatar! I want to make my sister a patriotic style quilt and your picture grabbed me right away. I'm a new quilter and would love to make something like it. Did you use a pattern? Is it still available?

I have subscribed to so many over the years. I have finally settled on Quiltmaker and Fons & Porter For the Love of Quilting as my favorites. Every now and then I subscribe for a year to Quick Quilts. They offer just that quick quilts. Sometimes you need something fast and easy.

My favorites have been Quiltmaker for many years and more recently, Quilter's Home. But Quilter's Home was enjoyable because the personality of Mark Lipinski shone through. I looked at the newest issue yesterday at B&N and without his outrageous perspective, I am not interested. Waiting to see if he shows up again in the magazine world before I add another subscription.
I guess until then it's just Quiltmaker for me.

Quilting is my first passion. Piecing comes down the list somewhere, but I am enjoying the one I'm piecing now.
What was supposed to be one big quilt turned in to 2 big quilts.
Long story. It was good to get 2 out of one time cutting and piecing.

What disappoints me about Quilters Newsletter magazine is that they display beautiful quilts on the front cover but never include the pattern. You can't even get the patterns for the cover quilts in most cases. I like McCalls. I pick up copies of quilting magazines for $.25 at my guild meetings and take advantage of the great savings. They may be old to someone else but to me they are new and sometimes I get some really great finds.

Thanks for the reply! I am very new to piecing, quilting and sewing, so I wasn't even aware of the concept of your "cheater" quilt. It's beautiful, no matter the process you used to get there! Thanks for opening my eyes to another option for quilting without piecing.
