Quilting in Puerto Rico?
#11
My first question would be what is prompting a move? Are you running from something or running to something? Why Puerto Rico? Have you researched taxes, housing costs, food/utilities expenses etc. Have family there?
I'm sure there would be someone to work on machines and ways to get fabric. Just might cost a bit more. Quilting might not be a huge thing due to the warmer, tropical climate. You could make "Summer Quilts" and save a bundle as they have no batting.
I would recommend you do a short term lease on a place down there, in what they consider the worst time of the year. But then I'm old and cautious. LOL

I just came back from there. It is beautiful and not at all what the media portrays! much of the rebuilding has been done but there is still more that FEMA is funding. I was on the west side of the island and in San Juan and areas in between. I had a wonderful time with my two adult sons and we fell in love with an area of Dorado. It has two golf courses, a beautiful beach club house and the weather ranges from 85-77 all year round. There is also a incredible tax savings. With the weather so warm I am afraid that there may not be many that quilt there. But then again, it is warm here in Phoenix and lots of people quilt in Florida where it is warm as well.

Puerto Rico still has to rebuild from Hurricane Maria....the majority of the island is still without power, drinking water, food, jobs, etc. Have you really thought this through?? Perhaps you meant another island or land mass area iand it just came out Puerto Rico??

Unfortunately, the media has kept the tourists away. When we told friends that we were taking a trip there, most thought what everyone is posting here, that it still is a mess but it wasn't and we had a marvelous time.

Quilter in Puerto Rico
I知 considering a move to Puerto Rico. I知 wondering if there are any quilting board members in Puerto Rico. I知 wondering if there are any quilting group痴 and where I might find them if there are. I did go to one store that had brother sewing machines and material. They did not know any quilting groups. I have a HQ16 LA. Of course would have figure out the cost is shipping etc. If you know anything about Puerto Rico I壇 be interested in hearing from
you. And if this is not the right place to post this, Plese forgive me.
