I have made several T-shirt quilts, but I'm always trying to figure out the best way to quilt them. It seems a shame to quilt over the T-shirt designs with straight lines, etc, and tying them seems to leave them too "poochy" in places (especially under the weight of the T-shirt with its iron-on backing). I've wondered if meandering would work. Anyone out there have any suggestions or ideas or good experiences with certain techniques?

I have made one t-shirt quilt. And it as meandered. It looked fine. We didn't quilt over the writing on the t-shirt just around it.
Hope this helps!

I've made about 20 t-shirt quilts and meander stitch them. I make them reversible, t-shirts on both side, when possible, quilt each block, then put them together using Sharon Pederson's Reversible Quilts technique. Lastly I put the borders on the same way.
Hope this helps.
