I have a beautiful asian panel that I want to use as the center of a lap quilt. Have you done this? What designs have you used? I need your help

I've used panels and just put borders around them. I try to find seasonal (yet not Christmasy) panels each year so that I can make couch throws for DD's teacher for Christmas. I try to get ones that look more "winter" so that they can use them longer each year. You can also piece blocks to put around them.
