I have a brother 4000D and would like to begin quilting. So a couple of questions.
1. Is there a way to make 8x8 squares "in the hoop" with my machine? I have the 8x12 hoop but only sews 7x10 designs I think.
2. If I were to buy a second machine to primarily make quilts with what would you recommend?
3. Should I buy a machine that could be put on a frame also? And would this machine be the same as the machine used above to make the quilt?
Thanks for your thoughts!

The 4000D limits you to using the smaller hoop. However you can rehoop some quilting designs to get a bigger design. I'm not certain what other machines are out there where you can use a 8x8 hoop; but the Brother Quatro has an 8 x8 hoop and one even larger. Also there are some great quilting designs built into this machine plus the ability to pivet and sew in multiple directions. You might want to take a look at itsince you have the 4000 they might give you a good deal. I traded my 4000D for the Quatro.
