I am making a rag quilt out of cotton fabric. My question is how you sew the "innersections" of the seams when you are sewing the rows together? Do you lay one set of seam allowances one way and the next one at the "innersection" the opposite way? Does anyone understand my question????

I usually press the seams open for rag quilts. Then I just match the seam lines.

I have done it both ways, but think it is easier to sew thru the flat seams. It shouldn't really make a diference since you have the same amount of fabric but it works better for me.
Also, save your hands and invest in rag scissors.

I've sewn up to the intersection and then start on the other side, flipping the seam allowance out of the way, with a couple back stitches at start and end.

I own a small pair of Fiskars (with the spring) and really like them for rag quilting.
