    Default rayon/cotton blend of fabric

I was gifted yards of a solid green rayon.cotton fabric.Has anyone used a blend in your quilt making?it wrinkles very badly.,so I know I would have to use some spray starch. If it was Christmas green, I'd have no problem using it up,but its
    a dark lime green.

The "reputation" that rayon had many years ago was that it was a comparatively fragile fabric.

I only ever used it in garments!

It may be useful for wall hangings or table runners. Rayon is indeed fragile - I had a lovely cotton/rayon flowey dress once and within a year of wearing it had vertical tears throughout.

I like to use fabrics with questionable content to make clothesline bowls. Since rayon tends to really fray, I would like the bowls with a fuzzy (frayed) look.

I got some rayon accidentally--The LQS that I bought it from thought it was cotton. Washed it before I used it, and it shrank considerably, and got stiff. I took it back to the shop, and they thanked me and got rid of it.

Having said that, the rayon that is in quilt shops now, is probably something different.

Some rayon doesn't wash well at all so I'd definitely pre-wash and see how it comes out. Even rayon that does wash well usually shrinks a lot. It also wrinkles a lot and is somewhat fragile. I'm not sure I'd want to use it in a quilt. It's great for garments though.

I would never use rayon in a quilt because it deteriorates very easily and would be in shreds early in the life of the quilt. And, it would not 'behave' as cotton in the washing process. That would make it look out of place.

Clothesline bowls are when you wrap strips of fabric around cotton clothesline, coil the prepared line as you sew with a zig zag stitch on your machine. There are several nice bowls on QB if you use the search feature.
