    Great idea, and suggested by another friend also. The other thing I'm considering is: black - 2-3", the lighter of the two medium blues - 1", followed by the star (if I have enough, I think I do, but may not be able to get 6",might have to settle for 3-4". I only have about 1 1/2 yards, do you think that is enough, considering by the time I get the first border on it will be 126x101 or so?

    Sorry for so many questions - this is the first major MAJOR project I've undertaken!

    And no, JoAnn's doesn't have any more of the star fabric, I got the last of the bolt :D

    I would make black the inner border and 1/4 to 1/3 the width of the squares to frame the quilt, or as Irish Rose wrote, to be a "stopper".
