    Hi everyone,
In the next month or two....I would like to attempt making a quilt for an 11 year old boy. Have started collecting different fabrics with the solar system, stars, space ships and the galaxy etc. etc. Would anyone have suggestions on a pattern to help me think of what I'm going to do and maybe some photos of any boys quilts. Would really appreciate all the help I can get from anybody and everybody

I searched on the board and came up with many quilts for boys. Check this one out: http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-85564-1.htm
    I'd think anything bold.

Sounds great! I just made an I Spy overnight as a quick gift for my 10 yr old, when I heard someone was travelling to where he is in Africa. I used a galaxy print and space alien print among others. There's a line with planets, etc in a large panel and yardage at my LQS. Looks quite like the pic above actually. If I would've has more time, I might done a simple, large evening star, alternating with another block. Or snowballs and 9 patch. Simple is great with big prints.

Hi....I'm not sure about what pattern you should do....but I was in our local quilt shop in the UK this week and they were very excited about the 3D space fabric that they had coming in from Hoffman.....not sure if you have it already in the US as we are often way behind...but it would be great for an 11 year old...apparently it looks normal until you put on the 3D glasses and then the space ships and planets really pop out at you....don't think it's that expensive and would be such fun and unique
I have googled the following site that has a bit more info...also do a fish and a forest pattern I think.....Good luck

PS...sorry have just realised you are in Australia but hopefully you can find a store to ship some otherwise I will happily send you some when our store gets some in...if you want some let me know.

I checked out the fabric from Hoffman like you said and it is lovely. Thanks again for thinking of me and I do truly appreciate your kindness. :D :-D

I just made a new quilt for my soon to be 11 yr old son. It's from Stonehenge fabric by Northcott. The fabric was left overs from another project so I just made it all into half square triangles to a finished size of 5 1/2". Then I hung up by hi tech design wall (picnic tablecloth flannel back) and let him help me lay out the blocks. He got to choose whether to do the center square, or zigzag, or stripes or random layout. We had to fudge a bit at the bottom when I ran out of the really light blue. But he loves it and couldn't wait to get it onto his bed.
