I want to make striped placemats to match my dining room drapes. How would you quilt a striped placemat?

I would either do circles or stripes. Stripes could go either way (with the stripe or against it). Please post pictures when you are done.

I think circles would be a nice contrast to the striped fabric.

Both those suggestions are great ones - I would also throw in the possibility of diagonals in both directions to create a diamond pattern, though I agree circles might be cool.

I agree, circles would complement the stripes; but I also agree that diagonals would look nice. Diagonals would also give the effect of more piecing.
    You'd better post those pictures!

I wasn't going to piece these placemats like I did the others. I am just using striped fabric with batting in between.
I do not know how to do the circles so I might try the diagonals .
Thanks you have all been so helpful,
    Pat

I like the idea of circles but cross hatching would do nicely too.
