I've been quilting a little over four years, so some things I still struggle with. Binding is the thing I struggle with a lot. I made myself a lap quilt a year ago and the binding just isn't very good. I'm guessing it won't be too much of a struggle to rip off the old binding and put on new. Has anyone ever done this?

It should be fine. I wouldn't have any problem doing this.

Just a suggestion, if you have a border already on this quilt just cut off the old binding, it will save you alot of time ripping the old one out and you really won't be losing too much of your edge.

I have done this to a Queen size Log Cabin. Took time but it wasn't bad at all. BrendaK

Haven't had to do it yet, but don't think I'd find it terribly difficult. The ripping out the stitches would be the most painful part for me. Then again, I don't mind doing bindings. Means it's almost DONE!

Just sit on the sofa with the lap quilt over your knees, and start taking the binding off. Take your time, and you will still be warm. Have the new binding ready to go. Ellie Girl, just take your time.

I haven't had to do it but I would cut off the old one and attach another. Just like I make any other binding.

This will also give a much neater (new) edge, than ripping out the old binding.
