I have all sizes of the Olfa ergonomics. They work well for me. I got a Gingher as a gift. Haven't tried it yet. It looks just like my Olfa only not yellow.

I use a Quilters Rule - about 20 years old with a blue curved handle.

Contact the Martelli Company. They have great customer service and should be able to help you out. When I had some problems with my first Martelli, they replaced it for free because it was a widespread problem that they had re-designed the cutter to eliminate.

I love my Martelli cutters (yes I have more than one) but I also like the Olfa ergos, the ones that you squeeze the handle to expose the blade and it retracts when you let go.

    have fun,

I only use fiskars. I've never heard of the Martelli one but I tried Olfa and returned it.

I have only used a Fiskars cutter with the original blade which I thought I would have had to replace by now, but it is still sharp. I cut out one double wedding ring quilt (gueen sized) and turned the blade over and now have cut out a second double wedding ring quilt (queen sized) with this same blade. I am a new quilter, so not sure how long the blades should last.

I only use the Olfa Ergonomic because the bland only comes out when you press the handle, then automatically retracts...It is really a safety thing.

I had the same thing happen to my Martelli rotary cutter & I called the company & they told me to send the whole thing back(minus the blade) to them and I would get a replacement. Waiting for my replacement!! It's worth a try.
