of some of you ladies talking about using the printer and printing pictures on fabric. For some reason, my brain cannot seem to type in the correct thing to find it online.
Can someone enlighten me on this and explain how to do it? Where do you get what ever it is that you need?
Does the ink wash off and is it hard to quilt on?
Now, mind you...I only have Ben Franklins here and they don't carry much in the way of quilting items and such.
I'd need to order whatever I need online or see if I could find it when we go to Hawaii next month. Would/does Walmart sell it or would I have to go to a quilt shop?

Terri, there are several ways to do it but if you want the ink to not wash out you will need to get Bubble Jet Set I can't find it in stores but it is on line, You treat the fabric with that. I cut my fabric the size of printer paper and iron on a piece of freezer paper then it will go through the printer. If you don't treat it it will wash off. I just use a tightly woven white for the fabric. I have no problem quilting it. You can also purchase transer fabric but I haven't found one I like.

Thanks! I'll have to wait until I get to Hawaii and see if I can find the stuff. I'm pretty sure I cannot have it shipped here, but I can always ask a company.
But, one would think that maybe a quilt store might sell it?

I think you can also buy it at a Joanns or perhaps even and Office Max or something similar

Well? There's no Joanns or Office Max here. There's an Office Max in Hawaii right down the street from my daughters house. Maybe when I talk to her tomorow,,,if I remember, I'll ask her to go and look. She can actually walk to it.

Back to the tightly woven fabric thing.....fabric such as....??????

Hi Terri, (as they are all of line at the moment I will jump in) Cotton Poplin will do the trick . You can also buy "Photo Fabric Ink Sheets" in packs of 6 already to go through the printer, saves messing with Bubble jet. In English money Pounds 10.95. Or if you are going to do a lot of it you can buy the fabric in rolls 120" x 8 1/2" wide for Pounds 19.95. You can also print on Silk, Cotton Canvas, Cotton Twill.

    Hope that helps.Elle x

By the way the higher the thread count, like something with 240 thread count (get them to count the threads in the shop LOL) the better image you will get.

I use "Printed Treasures" ink jet fabric sheets. I have had really good results with it. I have heard that the June Taylor brand is not good at all, that the picture does wash off it.
You can get the Printed treasures at most online shops. I know Hobby Lobby carries it, doubt you will have access to that store though.
