Scrappy quilt
I am in the process of working with a muslin scrappy quilt. I need a center star and just can't decide on a color. Any suggestions.... I will have to buy something... nothing in my stash is big enough. Would a batik be ok?... the pattern shows a dark cranberry.. just like ideas if you have the time.

When you put your scraps together, is there a colour that's more dominant? I know that if I went with a scrappy quilt at the moment, my dominant colour would be red, as I've made a couple of red quilts lately. I'd have a look at your scraps and take your inspiration from there.

If you are wanting the center star to "shine" you need it to contrast with your scraps.
So if most of them are medium to dark then it needs to be a light or bright.
On the other hand if most of them are light to medium then it needs to be dark or bright.
If most of them are bright, black or navy would do well.

Batiks are always lovely. Are your fabrics all muslins in that creamy off white color range? Or are they colored? If they are all in the creamy color Then I think a medium bright batik would be wonderful for your star; purple, blue, orange, bright pink.... so many choices that would just sparkle. Even some of those with several colors swirled together would work.
Otherwise, a photo of your background muslin fabrics would be very helpful in letting us see what the star color is going to pair up with.
