when I started quilting I pressed my seams open. After having read many posts about this subject I started pressing toward the dark side. My complaint about that is that where the fabrics join is not as flat as open.
I am just starting on a queen sized log cabin. It has a lot of seams so I am pressing them open.
I guess I would say, it's entirely up to you.

I usually press to the dark, but have learned if making a quilt with half square triangles I need to press the seam open.

NP The search feature on this board is not the greatest... Seems to return stuff not even remotely connected.

If you plan to stitch in the ditch, you will need to press to one side. There is no ditch if the seams are pressed open.

I have taken several classes on sewing a quilt, the instructors are about 50% for open, 50% toward dark fabric. I guess it is matter of choice, I decide when I start a quilt, I go both ways

I generally press to the side but have pressed open when there is a bunch of seams. As long as you don't quilt in the ditch you should be just fine.

Do it which ever way gives u the nicest look and the least amount of thick seams. I do every seam with what it needs.
