Just discovered our Model 717 is recalled. Really like the palm grip and operation of this iron. What is a recommended replacement. (Palm grip is important.)

We ordered the Dritz Mighty Steam Iron. Should be here next week. I'll report back.

I also ordered the Dritz Mighty Steam iron to replace the Steamfast. I actually had a Steamfast that I purchased in 2013 that shorted out at a sewing class last year and I threw it out before they announced a recall. Replaced that one with a new Steamfast which I’m getting refunded. If the Dritz iron lasts as long as the first Steamfast I’ll be happy.

That's a rebadged Steamfast. Exact same iron. If you look at the photos, it also has the same issue (inadequate strain relief bushing - less than 1" long - on the cord) that resulted in the Steamfast recall.

Don't be surprised if/when it gets added to the recall.

It came this week, I like it very much, nice weight, gets very hot, doesn't shut off. Because it's an older model where the cord meets the iron is a bit of a pain when ironing, but I'm good to go.

I kind of thought the same thing, but the price was right and I like having a small iron next to my machine.

I emailed my photo & info on 12/29 and received my replacement today (1/8). That's just 10 days including 2 weekends and a holiday! It's a little different handle & on/off switch location but heats up just as fast so I'm happy.

Still waiting!
I submitted all the photos and info in early January and still haven't received anything. I just wrote to them.

I sent my info 12/31, date of this thread, and got my refund check about a week ago.
