I want to personalize a quilt with pictures that I print on fabric and add to the top. I've never done this but I see beautiful memory quilts so I know it can be done.

Any hints? Does the color last? The best product to use? I need all the help I can get.

I made a wall hanging with pictures of our dog some years ago. The printable fabric was 8 1/2 x 11, but I cannot for the life of me remember the brand name. I will look and see if I can find it.

(a minute later) - I looked it up and the brand name is Avery. Hope this helps you.

It is important to use pigment-based ink in the printer, not dye-based ink which is water-soluble. I can post a link later today that shows the difference over time, but if you Google you should find some info about this.

Printed Treasures. My son launders his quilt often. I think he uses cold water, but I know he over dries his laundry. His pictures are still good after at least 5 years.

You can make your own printable fabric. The products I use are Bubble Jet Set 2000 and Bubble Jet rinse. It works beautifully and lasts through washes. Also you would not be limited to just white sheets, pastels look great depending on what you are printing. I treat my fabric which is good quality 100% cotton as directed and then iron the fabric to freezer paper and cut to letter paper size sheets. I only load one sheet at a time to print. Of course you can only do this using an Ink Jet printer. If you google this you should find plenty of "how to" ideas. Very easy and fun to do. Oh yes and much less expensive than premade sheets.
