    Setting Seams?

    What is setting seams? I have seen this on the board before but I don't think I know what it is. Is it when you sew your seams and first iron the seam area and then either open the seams or iron to the side? Is this correct? And why?

    I read that it sets the thread into the fabric which strengthen the thread

    I feel like the heat makes the fabric fibers tighten up on the thread

    It sets the thread into the fabric, and makes a better looking seam when it is pressed open :D:D:D

    It also keeps the threads from coming undone before you can get them sewn into blocks.

    All I know is that setting the seams makes for a much better looking block. I do this automatically now. Glad to see others fo this too.
