    I use a single thread as well. If the quilt is getting a lot of use, I use a 50 wt. polyester. As long as you use quality, strong thread, it shouldn't be a problem. I have found using beeswax or Thread Heaven isn't necessary and it washes out in the first wash.

    single thread or totally by machine sewing binding to back first, turning over to front and using a decorative stitch.

    I find that Thread Heaven is good but expensive. You might want to try using an unused dryer sheet and running the thread thru it a couple of timed. It works pretty well like the Thread Heaven.

    I use a single thread and ladder stitch....so far havehad no problems with bindings not holding up....

    I use one strand of sewing thread and use a tiny blind/whip stitch to sew down the binding.
