Good Morning all!
So I was thinking of maybe investing in a sewing cabinet. Currently I am using an old kitchen table and need some more storage.
Does anyone have any suggestions for vendors, or for plans to build one yourself? Let me know.

I have a Koala cabinet and I am very happy with it. It is extremely well made, heavy duty everything, piano type hinges. It came fully assembled, all we added was the front handles. The wood is excellent, not particle board junk, the finish is really nice, just a fantastic cabinet. Watch for sales as these are pricey.Originally Posted by miholmes

I just got my new koala delivered yesterday. Woohoo. I'll maybe post photos today. It weighed over 400 lbs. and we sure had a fun time moving it up the stairs!!
My old sewing table is also a Koala, but the one made in Australia years ago before they sold out the company. The new ones are completely different and are so much nicer.

They're not solid wood, they're the highest density mdf or particle board on the market(per the salespeople). They have a wood grain "look". Still, as heavy as real wood would be!! I got the white.

My husband made mine several years ago. It has 2 shelves to the right and 5 drawers to the left. It also has a big "lid" that is supported by the front left door that I use as my cutting surface. To my right the lid also folds out if I need extra stacking space for blocks. Maybe I should take a picture. No, then I'd have to clean the sewing/laundry room. haha

I have 2 Horn cabinets that I absolutely love. I imagine they are very similar to Koala cabinets. Yes, they are pricey..but you might be able to get a good deal on a floor model at a sewing store. I got one of mine that way...I was at quilt BOM and they announced that they were needing room and had this particular cabinet for sale (at a very good price). I did not hesitate...after the session I immediately purchased it. My other cabinet was my late MIL's and I KNOW how much she paid for it....the one I bought was quite a bargain (they are identical except for the finish). I had sewn for about 20 years on my dining room table and it was so nice to finally have a cabinet!
