I do like the clips for some things, but not particularly bindings. For hand sewing the binding on I prefer the snap hair clips. I get them at the dollar store.

I mainly use my clips to hold my piecing sets together...works great for that. I put my bindings on by machine most of the time...my bad....but I don't pin or clip....just put the binding on the back by machine....then fold over and position slightly beyond the stitch line from the front as I machine stitch it down with a serpentine stitch. I do use the clips though...especially on Bonnie's mystery quilts for keeping all the little pieces in sets. I also line up the edge of the binding on the front just inside the left toe of my machine foot. Keeps my going straight and usually right on when I look on the back. I have learned to be careful in the corners to keep everything going nice and straight....occasionally I will get a few stitches on the backing instead of the binding on the back but not often nor is it that noticeable when it does happen as I usually use a print or tone on tone as backing.

I have a handful of the bigger (green) Clover clips that aren't really helpful holding 2 pc of fabric tightly together--great for holding a whole set together but too big otherwise. Then I bought a box of the very small (about 1/2" in size total) that work great for holding fabric together to sew (like with strips, etc) I still do pin for those things that just can not shift at all or disaster.

I put clips about 4 inches apart to hold the binding to the back. I hand stitch up to a clip and remove it when I get there. I prefer the clips over pins as they are safer.

Ditto for me too! I existed for about 7 years with just 10 clips but as they got commandeered by my cat as play toys, I went down to 4. Yes, I found them under furniture and and cushions. Just recently bought a cute little tin of 100 and ... Well, I still just use 2 or three for binding. It is very soothing to just run my fingers through the little box of colorful clips.

I use them to keep track of how many blocks I've completed for a quilt. For example, if I need 10 blocks for a row for the top, when I have 10 done, I clip them together. Easier for me to keep track so I don't OVER SEW.

I only use pins when I need to match a seam, otherwise I use clips. I detest getting poked by pins! I think I learned to bind differently than most. I trim the batting and backing 1 1/4 inch, fold to back, and stitch. Here is my tutorial.

I love the smaller, original, Clover clips for sewing on my binding. I don't do any of it by hand. In the corners, I do have to use a pin to make sure I have them lined up properly. I don't use the clips for sewing regular seams. They are just too bulky. Sometimes, I do slowly sew over my pins to try to keep the seams matched up properly. And, as a person on blood thinners, the clips are much safer for me. I find I only prick myself when I am sewing with that darned binding.
