Oils have different "weights" so they flow correctly into the crevices they are meant to go into. I only use sewing machine oil (mine happens to be Singer oil) because all my older machines that call for oil are Singer. Newer electronic machines are not to be oiled. That hair clipper oil is much thinner than sewing machine oil, and would probably run right through your machine onto your fabric.

I've been told by a few sewing machine repair people to always use sewing machine oil only. Some people used to use the three and one oil on there machines and that gets hard and can cause problems.over time.

good Luck

The sewing machine oil that I bought from Joanns's lists many different uses on the bottle.

looks like the consensus is to use only sewing machine oil :)

So that is what I will do.
