My plan was to build up a stash while I was working so once I retired I could sew the rest of my life and not need to buy fabric. Now that I'm retired, I'm very thankful I did that. I still buy fabric when I go on my quilting vacations but the rest of the year, I usually don't buy fabric unless I need something to finish a project I'm working on (like border fabric or backing, etc.) And I LOVE having my scraps all cut and organized by size. I make a lot of scrappy quilts and this helps a lot!
