In reading another posting about a quilt that's missing, I was reminded of what I've put on my order forms. I swiped it from someone else...have no idea who or I'd give that quilter credit.

Anyway - I've included this line on my order forms:

Return Shipping
US Postal Service ______ FedEx ______ UPS _______
Insure for amount $ __________ (If you do not want to pay for insurance
please acknowledge that the Quazy Quilter is not responsible for lost quilts. ________ (please initial)

I don't want to be responsible if the owner doesn't care enough to insure the quilts he/she has spent so much money on!!!

I'm not sure if this would cover you - is this for quilts you are selling to someone, or customer's quilt that you are quilting and sending back to them?
I think insurance is for YOUR benefit. I know it is that way when selling on ebay.

I do quilting for people. I expect them to pay for shipping because my prices are lower compared to others in my area. Some have told me they don't want insurance, some do. By posting that, I'm hoping to encourage them to want insurance and to pay for it. Frankly, I'm out the time, they are out the dollars for the quilt. Should the quilt get lost in the mail, THEY know how much they paid for the fabric. If I got insurance on the last quilt, I'd have to determine how much she paid --- did she buy the $1.99 a yard fabric or did she pay $10.99??? Right?? I DO believe that line, signed by the customer, would absolve me of any responsibility should the quilt get lost in the mail. Oh, and I would hope they would want to pay insurance for the postal both ways.
