Should I add a hanging pocket or not? Opinions humbly requested

I am making a quilt to (attempt to) sell at a a craft fair. It will be around 48" square when done, with fairly dense and artistic (she says immodestly) quilting. It could be used as a lap quilt, a crib/baby quilt or as a wall hanging. For the first two uses a hanging pocket would get in the way, and obscure the back side (where the quilting shows clearly) making it less reversible. But if someone wants to buy it to use as a wallhanging, having a hanging pocket might be a desireable feature. Can't decide which way to go on this, since adding the pocket is a fair amount of extra work...and taking it off after it has been added would be a hassle for someone buying the quilt!

What do you think?

(The quilt is very similar to this one, because I am using up leftover bits. My new one is less orange, because most of my orange went into the first one!)

I probably wouldn't put the sleeve on--like you said it is a fair amount of work and may not be wanted. Also if someone buys it for a wallhanging they may already have a way to hang it without using a sleeve. Or you could add the sleeve (for an additional cost) if it is purchased for a wallhanging. It is had to anticipate and prepare for everyone's needs on an item

If you don't want to add a hanging sleeve, buy some of the Walmart curtain rings with the little clothespins attached. The clothespins have little teeth to grab the curtain and they make a nice way to hang wallhangings.

Skip the hanging sleeve.

I would skip the sleeve but Tartans idea would work wonderfully!

You have convinced me! No sleeve for this one. And I think Tartan's idea is very cool - I even have some of those rings already, and will try to think of ways to incorporate them into my display...

Thanks!

Just call me late to the party .............. you could have the quilt hanging with those clips/rings!
How about a sign noting "crib/baby/toddler quilt? table topper? wall hanging?"

Be prepared that if someone says, I want a hanging sleeve .... that you know what the added cost would be for you to do so, for them.

Now ... are you going to show us this new artistic wonder?
or just leave us in suspense?

Hey QuiltE! It is another autumnal carpenter's star - my first one required so many different fabrics that I have a ton of leftovers to use. I'll actually be making another one after this one! I put the link to the original in the first post, and I'll show this one when it is done (still quilting at the moment)
