Select a project that you can take along. Could be marking shapes, cutting them and even (using the bad word) hand piecing or hand applique.
bindings can be stitched while waiting etc etc etc.
Or take the time to read over instructions and make notes of important parts to remember.
Sketch out the plan for a new quilt.
