Default Silly question about scrap strips and squares

i know this is a silly question but within the last week I was reading posts on the board and have no idea where I read a good tip for measuring the width of my scraps that I have cut into different sized strips. I know - I know - I can use a ruler and measure them - or I could stack them in different sized piles - but this was such a unique idea and of course I thought it so unique that I would remember it. Nope. I was reading in bed on my iPad and maybe if I weren't in bed I would have had the common sense to bookmark or make of note of it. Does anyone have any idea what I might have read. I am making an honest to goodness effort to tame my scraps - as Bonnie would say. I am starching and ironing before I cut whatever size strip I can get - some long, some short. I hate folding them up to store - any ideas on that?

Thanks - you guys are so awesome. I love reading some of the problems that others have had and then seeing how someone always comes to the rescue.

I only keep 3 different widths of strip scraps: they must either be 2.5", 2" or 1.5". I keep them separated by width. I don't remember reading a post regarding the subject you mentioned. Hope someone else can help you. It is difficult to keep scraps organized.

The only way I know is to measure and sort the ones you have now. I keep mine in 2 gallon zip loc bags and if it gets too big, I switch to plastic tubs. But when you find what you read, please let us know. I'm always up for a better idea.

I actually think it was an off shoot of another subject. You know how we sometimes get sidetracked on the original posting....and quite often learn from that off the subject postings. Oh why do we not take the time right at the moment to make notes - LOL!
