Default Avalanche Quilt

Has anyone seen the pattern for an Avalanche Quilt? I saw one picture and done in blacks and whites so kind of hard to see. Can't tell if it is a diamond on it side or a square with elongated points. I could make it without a pattern if I could figure out the size of the template or the shape.. I found it googling for lap quilts. I want something fast for Christmas projects but different in design than just squares or strips..

Thanks,
Evelyn

I think it's a square with elongated points. The pattern says it's easy – makes me think there's a trick to it and that it's easy to overthink it. Maybe keep looking at it and it will come to you.

Seems like two tumbler blocks sewn narrow end to wide end would make one block?

That pattern reminds me of those really tall slides that you ride down on a burlap bag.

In the reading it says 41/2 inch stripes. Cut each strip at an angle not sure what then join . Or can you join stripes then cut all out in one long stripe . I would have to do it mentally not working this morning.

Looks as if you join five 8 1/2 inch strips (42 1/2 inch wide strip set) and cut at an angle (30 degrees?). In order to get the pattern the strips need to be turned on their sides and staggered.
