My log cabin, I did SID. I think it keeps the straight line look.

I have seen fancy stitching in the white areas, but usually the quilting is lost in the darks.

Thank you. I have a large log cabin that is about to be quilted and I think I will stitch in the ditch after looking at other quilts.

I love your choices of colors. Very pretty!! I always have someone machine quilt mine. If I were going to do it myself, I'd do stitch in the ditch along the seam lines tho.

Does anyone remember who posted the gorgeous floral log cabin on here a month or so ago. I've been collecting floral fabrics to make one, but have some questions for the maker.

I love the look of Baptist Fans on a log cabin quilt.

I also like the look of feathers or leaves on the light paths and SID or some straight line quilting on the dark paths.

I happen to be quilting hearts on a strange little log cabin quilt today. It is a banner for the nursing school of the University of Pennsylvania. It's embroidered with their school motto: "Penn Nursing: Care to Change the World." Hearts seemed appropriate.

Vote for stitch in the ditch - makes the log cabins really "log" cabins

I agree with Whinnytoo, feathers using a variated light thread or a dark thread maybe also variated.

I just finished one and am going to do a similar quilt pattern. First I'm going to STID the larger square and then one of the interior squares.

You quilt is lovely.
I have made several log cabin quilts and I hand quilt in each log in the ditch, or you could quilt the L's in each block, either way looks good.
