Do you mind if I use your idea? My hubby is also an extreme patriot and I know he would love this. The only thing is I would then have to find out how to make and uneven log cabin...
I don't mind. My husband is Retired Army so our house is covered in everything Americana! lol
Its actually rather easy. you do it just like a normal log cabin except you cut your strips two different sizes, for a 14 inch block the large strips would be cut 2.5 inches the smaller strips 1.5 inch. and then for every half white half red block or half white half blue block you have you make a 2.5 inch (UNfinshed) HST. Then just sew them in order according to the picture below....so your center square is actually a 2.5 inch HST. then log one is a 2.5 inch square. then log three qill be 4.5 x 2.5. and instead of adding your logs to the right first, you add them to left.

Hopefully that is a littly clearer than mud, lol I'm not good at writing it out! Sorry.

sew logs on in numerical order!

Oh no. Just added another "I wanna do this" to my queue (and yes, DH would like it).

What a beautiful pattern. I think larger blocks will be just fine.
