Default size for toddler bed quilt?

I know the size for a crib quilt is usually 45 x 60" and that the mattress for a toddler bed is the same one as for a crib. But, when making a quilt for use on a toddler bed, do you use the same measurements as for a crib quilt? Or do you make it a bit bigger, allowing for tucking in /overhang?

If I remember correctly, a toddler bed is about a foot off the ground. I would make some over hang for it, like a "big boy quilt".

I make my toddler quilts approximately 50 X 60 give or take just a little depending on the pattern. If you are making for a toddler's bed, check with the family. Is the bed is a toddler sized bed or are they simply moving the child to a single sized bed? Is the quilt intended as a bed cover or is it to be a snuggle quilt? Oh, so many variables.

A thought just occurred to me. I'm not sure that a crib size mattress has a top sheet, but if it does, I would make the quilt a little larger than the top sheet.
